Notice for the Students of BBA 5th Sem (M) 08 July 2009

Only 9 out of 58 Students came for the first mid-term appraisal of Summer Training Report. Those who have not reported will be awarded ZERO marks in the first evaluation and are treated as Defaulters.
All the Students Must report to the institute on 25th July 2009 for the second mid term appraisal along with a file containing hard copies of all weekly Progress Reports (WPR), Synopsis etc completing 90 % of their work for the summer training report. The students who failed to report on 25th July will continue to remain in Defaulter category and will be evaluated accordingly.

For5th Semester BBA Programme

GUIDELINES FOR SUMMER TRAINING REPORT (STR)
Important

1. Immediately after the completion of the Fourth semester, the students shall proceed for their Summer Training of 8 weeks duration. The Summer Training Report prepared after the completion of Summer Training shall be assessed in the Fifth Semester as a compulsory paper. The STR will be submitted by the candidates in the manner as specified in the Ordinance.

2. The period of Summer Training starts from 1s JUNE to 31st JULY, in no case the ST tenure shall be extendable beyond 8 weeks.

3. The last date for the Submission of Summer Training Report completed in all respect in the office of the respective Guide in the Institute will be on or before 14 Aug.

4. Every student of BBA shall be required to undergo a practical training in an industrial organization approved by the Institute for eight weeks, in the Summer, after the end of the fourth semester. The candidates shall be required to undergo training in the various areas of the organization concerned. The organization may assign a specific project to the candidate, which will be completed by him / her during the period of training. The work done by the candidate in the training on the project shall be submitted in the form of a Summer Training Report.

5. The Summer Training Report, wherever specified will be submitted in the typed form as per the following requirements:


(i) The typing should be done on one side of the paper
(ii) The font size should be 12 with Times Roman / Arial Format.
(iii) The Summer Training Report be typed in 1.5 (one and a half) space. But the References/Bibliography should be typed in a single space.
(iv) The paper should be A-4 size.
(v) Two copies meant for the purpose of evaluation should be hard bound with golden embossing. Color of hard bound should be black. Cover page should be uniform as per prescribed format. Gutter should mention the topic as well as name of the student in golden embossing duly signed by the Training Supervisor of the respective Organization along with duly filled in PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL PERFORMA for the final submission along with duly signed declaration form by concerned faculty guide.

6. The evaluation shall be done in the manner specified in the Scheme of Examination of the program.. The Project Report shall carry 100 marks which will be evaluated by Internal for 50 Marks & the external examiner for 50 Marks



GENERAL GUIDELINES

1. The students must attend the Briefing Session before they leave for the Summer Training about the guidelines, expectations and other things that they are normally expected to do and not to do during the Training period.

2. All the students of BBA 5th Semester are required to attend Briefing Session for the Summer Training Report organized by Corporate Resource Centre on 30th May.
.
3. All the students are required to give their Organization name to the Placement Cell of the Institute to verify the antecedents of the Organization to verify its authenticity, appropriateness, worthiness, usefulness, capability and fitness for the purpose of imparting the training to the students of BBA Program.

4. The students shall choose an organization of repute, a private / public limited company, corporation or a government department etc.

5. The Faculty guide has liberty to visit the Organization where the student is undergoing training to assess and evaluate fruitfulness of the training.

6. No two students should work on a single Topic during their Summer Training Report. Even if the students are assigned the same project it is expected that they work on different aspects of the project and presentation shall be different.

7. All the students are required to give presentation to the concerned guide along with the Committee of experts mentioned below:

The name of the other faculty member for committee for evaluation purpose will be notified through separate notice.

8. All the students are required to give presentation to the concerned guide along with the Committee of experts on what they have learnt in their Training in the presence of other Trainee students which will be held during 17th August to 26th August.

9. The students are required to meet their Institutional Training Guides phase wise before submitting the report for final dispatch and are expected to send the weekly progress report by E mail to their Faculty guide& program coordinator on every Monday of the week to accommodate due changes made by the Training guide. It is obligatory for students to get their draft approved from concerned guide before giving final draft of the Summer Training Project Report for submission. .

The first phase includes synopsis research methodology finalization, research questionnaire, action plan for data collection, sample data collection for pretesting & review of literature..
The second phase consists of progress report, literature review, quality & volume of data collection, corrective measures& further action for data collection.
In third phase progress report, data compilation &, preliminary data analysis, plan for report writing will be analyzed.
In fourth phase draft report& final report based on guide’s inputs shall be assessed. Then students will prepare for presentation & viva-voce. The duration of phases shall be as such-
Phase 1- From1st June to 15 June
Phase 11- From16 June to 30 June
Phase 111 – From 1 July to 15 July
Phase iv – From 16 July to 31 July



10. Training report submitted should have a proper declaration form given by the Institute attached to it by the candidate



11. Training report should contain following aspects of Organization i.e.

I) Organization profile
II) Business of the organization
III) Management procedures and updates in various functional areas of Organization
IV) Critical assessment and evaluation of Organization Business, strength & weaknesses and future prospects of Organization.
V) Suggestions and Recommendation for the organization.

12. Training report may be of following types:

a. Comprehensive Case Study --covering single Organization, Multi Functional Area, Problem Formulation, Analysis and Recommendations.
b. Inter-Organization study- Inter Organizational Comparison or validation of theory / survey of management practices.
c. Field Study –Empirical study

13. Please ensure that you’ve:

14. It is advised that:

ü You take the Summer Training very seriously & understand the Summer Training Project in its entirety – its objectives, methodology future scope & the time frame in which it has to be completed.
ü Send the weekly Progress Report by email to your faculty guide and Program coordinator on every Monday of the week positively.

ü Perform Good Quality Work which would help you:

a. In developing an understanding of the functional area.
b. In applying theoretical concepts learnt in the classroom.
c. In evolving the new theories and concepts.
d. In gaining experiences of working in the real life situation.
e. Building a rapport with the Industry Guide.
f. Establishing a mutually beneficial relationship between you and yours respective organization.








15. This is an opportunity for you & at the same time a very important responsibility to build a close relationship between your institute & various members of your Summer Internship Organization and all the other organization you come across during your Internship. The following would definitely help you to achieve the above.

a) Be punctual in your office training.
b) Be sincere towards your Summer Training.
c) Meet deadlines & targets given.
d) Office your supporting hand to your industry guide for work than your Summer Training.
e) Be ethical in your deals.
f) Build cordial relationship with all the industry Professional you come across during your summer training.



Note: National Conference is scheduled for November 14, 2009. It is an opportunity for the student as well as TIAS to express the gratitude to the Industry Guide & other professional who have guided & supported you during 8 weeks of SI.




GUIDELINES FOR STRUCTURE OF SUMMER TRAINING REPORT

1. The length of the Summer Training Report should be of ideal number of pages (60-70) not exceeding 12,000 words (Excluding appendices and exhibits) However 10% variation on either side is permissible.

2. Training Project allotted by the Industry supervisor should strictly consist of the following:

a. COVER PAGE: In the format as prescribed in its contents must strictly be adhered.

b. CERTIFICATE FROM ORGANIZATION: Training completion certificate issued by organization concerned on Original Letter Pad mentioning Title of the project, period of Training, the Name of the Trainee and Institute along with the assessment of the overall performance of the student duly signed by the competent authority.

c. CERTIFICATE FROM THE INSTITUTE: In the format as prescribed in its contents must strictly be adhered and duly signed by the concerned Guide.

d. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: It must specify the gratitude offered to the persons
Concerned instrumental in finalization of the Report e.g. Institute, Parents, Principal, Guide, Industrial Guide, Friends, Peers etc. and it must be signed by the student concerned.

e. PREFACE: It must specify the gist of all the sections and chapters included in the Report and also highlight its relevance.

f. TABLE OF CONTENTS: Index must be specified with appropriate topics and page numbers as specified.

g. CHAPTERIZATION:

CHAPTER - I RESEARCH PROBLEM AND PURPOSE

COMPANY PROFILE: Company profile includes all the relevant information about the company its history, hierarchy, various department, production process, product profile, its past performance, future plans etc., Critical assessment and evaluation of Organization Business, strength & weaknesses and future prospects of Organization.

INDUSTRY PROFILE: Brief profile of the Industry including its current status from which the company belongs.

INTRODUCATION : Significance of the study, Review of Existing Literature, Conceptualization, focus of the problem, Operationalization of the concept.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY: Focus of Study, Relevance of Study.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY: Must be directly in consonance with the research title and Questionnaire of the study should play significant role in fulfilling the Objectives of the Study,

CHAPTER - II REVIEW OF LITERATURE
Theory Operationalization Of The Concept through earlier and contemporary researches.
CHAPTER - III CURRENT SCENARIO
Present Scenario Of the Industry and the area in which the Student is Conducting research

CHAPTER -IV RESEARCH METHODOLOGY:
It must specify following chapters Research Design, Universe and survey population, Sample Size, Nature of the data, Method of data collection (Primary & Secondary) Hypothesis, Identified independent and dependent variables, Contents analysis, Various tests , Applied statistical tools( Analysis pattern) etc. – Notes( References)

RESEARCH INSTRUMENT: Relevance of each question asked in questionnaire
LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY : Constraints under which the study has been undertaken
DATA ANALYSIS & INTERPRETATION : Objective wise analysis, Microanalysis, Decodification of data, Tabulation of the data , Classification of Data, Use of graphs, Depiction of Bar diagrams, Histogram and its observation and inferences drawn.

CHAPTER – V DISCUSSION & FINDING OF THE STUDY

DISCUSSION OF RESULT
FINDINGS OF THE STUDY :Includes all the major Results & findings of the study.
SUGGESTION AND RECOMMENDATIONS: Summary of major observation and recommendations including utility of observations and direction for future research.

Certain Guidelines:

some students may have some problem in reading the information given below.
that is due to some technical fault and differences in the computer formats.
so, for that, you may also read the second guide lines preceeding right after these guidelines.
(in short, there are two kind of guidelines provided here.the difference between the two is that the e-mail id of all the faculty is not there in the second one. so, if you have any difficulty in reading the first one, you may read the second or vice versa.)

NOTICE:

all of you are hereby informed that those students who still hasn't registered themselves for the internship at college and has not submitted the weekly progress report to their respective faculty, will not be allowed to do the internship and submit their internship project for any kind of analysis. those students will be strictly marked zero as far as their marks are concerned and will be failed in this subject.
so, just hurry up and complete all the formalities at college, and submit your weekly progress report and synopses on time.
And, also, inform this to as many students as you can.

As per the director sir's order, those students who still hasn't registered their name for internship at the college will not be given any marks on their internship and also their project will not be considered at all for the same.
But, all these students are given just one more day's time to get themselves registered at the college i.e. till 5:00 p.m. of 4th june(tomorrow evening). After this, no marks will be given to them for their internship project and their project will be treated as a null one.
so students, HURRY UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
